Feature Fridays: Londonist DMC Student Accommodation Agency

Can you tell us something about Londonist?:

Londonist DMC is an award-winning student accommodation agency with offices in London, Turkey, and China. Since 2013, we have provided our clients with short and long-term accommodation, from 2 to 51 weeks. We pride ourselves on delivering a five-star service by making students feel at home away from home. It is achieved with the help of an inspired team, innovative technology, and intentional partnerships. We currently have over 1500 rooms in more than 50 locations across London in Zones 1, 2, and 3. Our portfolio includes student residences in King's Cross, Spitalfields, Lewisham, Portobello, Highbury, Islington, and more key locations.

What schools / agents are you looking to work with?

Our business model is built on cooperation with London-based language schools, universities, internship companies, international agents, booking platforms, and direct students. Our partners have been instrumental in our business, and we are looking to get more agents from around the world on board. The minimum stay in our residences is two weeks; therefore, we encourage language schools to cooperate with us.

The minimum age is 18+, and a few residences from our portfolio accept students who are 16+. Over the years, we have cultivated our network of partners as we have a massive international mix of students.

International graduates can now remain in the UK for two years (3 years if studying at the Ph.D. level) once they have completed their degree to work or search for work. The impact of these changes can already be seen, with an increase in demand, particularly from Chinese and Indian students, who have an increased propensity to pursue postgraduate opportunities. It brings the UK in line with the US and other destinations for international students.

Post-COVID, the student accommodation sector is benefiting from increased demand from second and third-year students and postgraduates. More so than ever, parents are opting for supportive and well-managed Londonist residences over non-managed shared homes, considered the least safe option. PBSA and BTR are proving to be increasingly attractive propositions.
